The Purdue Broad Ripple Lynx will square off against the Herron Achaeans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Purdue Broad Ripple has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Purdue Broad Ripple is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 25-15 margin over Eminence on Monday. Considering the Lynx have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Edmund Zimmerman and Mateo Bushfield did most of the damage at the plate: Zimmerman went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Bushfield went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Bushfield a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emory Clement, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Purdue Broad Ripple always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .638. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Herron came up short against Purdue Polytechnic on Thursday and fell 8-4. The Achaeans haven't had much luck with the Techies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Colvin Meek was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Herron's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Elon Sharp, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Herron's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-6-1. As for Purdue Broad Ripple, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Purdue Broad Ripple has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Herron struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Purdue Broad Ripple beat Herron 9-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will the Lynx repeat their success, or do the Achaeans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
