Softball Recap: Northwestern Sets Scoring Season-High Against Chippewa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwestern). Everything went their way against the Chippewa Chipps on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-7 victory. Considering the Huskies have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Cherry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 4th. Haley McLaughlin was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one double.

Northwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Northwestern and bumps their season record up to 9-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Chippewa, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern will take on Smithville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chippewa, they will square off against Fairless at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
