The Liberty Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 77-65 to Colby. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 203rd in Colorado, while Colby is ranked 38th in Kansas).
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Cunningham, who scored 19 points along with eight assists. That's the first time this season that Cunningham posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of London Praytor, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Liberty's loss was their 16th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Colby, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Liberty will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Ulysses at 8:15 p.m. on January 19th. As for Colby, they will play host again and welcome Beloit, where tip off is scheduled for TBD on Friday. Beloit is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.4 points per game.
