The Galax Maroon Tide gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 61-34 victory over Alleghany. For Galax, this counts as revenge for the 45-42 loss Alleghany walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Alleghany still got an impressive performance from Zander Russell, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds.
Galax's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Alleghany, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Galax will head out on the road to face off against Christiansburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Alleghany, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
