After a string of 11 wins, the Harlandale Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 59-42 fall against McCollum. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Harlandale has scored all season.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cascia Sandoval, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Sadie Mancha was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
McCollum found their leader in underclassman Aaliyah Mancha, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mancha has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Villarreal, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Harlandale's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-6. As for McCollum, they pushed their record up to 25-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Harlandale will take on Southside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Southside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for McCollum, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Legacy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 447th, while McCollum is ranked 119th).
