3A Metro - West recap October 29, 2013
Conifer extended the longest winning streak in 3A Metro - West this week by beating Summit, 42-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Lobos.
D'Evelyn took down Arvada 62-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lutheran's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. James Willis threw for 303 and 5 touchdowns and Joshua Claussen had 113 yards receiving. On the ground Jamil Bond chipped in 142 yards. Josh Murphy helped Lutheran's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 79 yards.
He was 12-13 with 0 interceptions.
Willis put up the best numbers through the air as the Lions defeated Steamboat Springs. Willis' favorite target this week was Claussen, who caught 5 passes for 113 yards.
On the heels of Willis and Bond, Lutheran has had great success on offense. Willis leads the league in passing with 1,799 yards, while Bond has rushed for 949 yards this season. The Jaguars' Ty McGee leads the league in receiving yards with 925 on 46 catches.
Daryl Moe's team's Bond is a mere 51 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 97 carries Bond has put up 949 yards this year.
So far this year, he has acheived 46 catches for 925 yards.
The Lions are currently in first, while the Pirates are in sixth.
