The Elkhart Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Mishawaka Cavemen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elkhart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Elkhart not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 15-2). Everything went their way against Mishawaka Marian as they made off with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Quinn Rost made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Max Shreiner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mishawaka, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against NorthWood by a score of 8-5 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Mishawaka also got a great performance from Drew Ginter as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Spychalski, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Braedyn Smith was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Elkhart's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8. As for Mishawaka, their record is now 14-7.
Elkhart was able to grind out a solid victory over Mishawaka in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
