The Leland Chargers will be playing at home against the Oak Grove Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Leland is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 44-13, which was the final score in Leland's tilt against Live Oak on Thursday. Leland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
The losing side was boosted by Luke Whitson, who gained 75 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln on the road on Friday as they won 22-7. The victory was just what Oak Grove needed coming off of a 35-14 defeat in their prior match.
Leland's defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Wilcox and 4-2 Willow Glen (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.4% over those games). Oak Grove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Leland came up short against Oak Grove when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 21-12. Will Leland have more luck at home instead of on the road?
