Baseball Recap: Harrells Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Harrells Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Halifax Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.

Dawson Smith and Peyton Gomez did some serious damage despite the final result: Smith went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Gomez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jesse Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Harrells Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Wilmington Christian Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-13.

Harrells Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 19-0 victory against Liberty Christian Academy on the 6th. Wilmington Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
