The Galena Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Spanish Springs at home by a decisive 58-44 margin. Galena has struggled against Spanish Springs recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Galena lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ramona Peterson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Turner, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Spanish Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah Vance out in front who scored 14 points along with two steals. Reese Wakefield was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Galena dropped their record down to 4-17 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Spanish Springs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galena will face off against Douglas at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Galena in Nevada (Douglas is ranked tenth, while Galena is ranked 65th). As for Spanish Springs, they will head out on the road to challenge Bishop Manogue at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
