The Fillmore Central Panthers were the 39-21 winner over the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fillmore Central took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that Fillmore Central has lost by exactly 11 points.
Despite the defeat, Fillmore Central saw an underclassman step up: Ali Nichols scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Abigail Kimbrough, who scored six points along with two steals.
Fillmore Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
This is the second loss in a row for Fillmore Central and nudges their season record down to 3-16. As for Wilber-Clatonia, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.
Fillmore Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars on Tuesday. Sandy Creek is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sutton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wolverines in Nebraska (the Mustangs are ranked 96th, while the Wolverines are ranked 228th).
