Even though Mt. Pleasant has not done well against Loretto recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant managed a 56-52 win over Loretto.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Pleasant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Benderman, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Benderman hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakyri McClure, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Summertown can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Lewis County 92-69. With Summertown ahead 49-28 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Burleson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 48 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Bennett, who scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals.
Mt. Pleasant's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Summertown, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Mt. Pleasant and Summertown are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Mt. Pleasant hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.8 points per game. However, it's not like Summertown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 71.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything went Mt. Pleasant's way against Summertown in their previous meeting on Friday as Mt. Pleasant made off with a 73-53 win.
