Softball Recap: Palm Desert Drops Season-High Score on Xavier Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palm Desert). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Xavier Prep Saints a 26-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that win, the Aztecs brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Palm Desert got a massive performance out of Taneia Arviso, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Arviso has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwyneth Kitagawa, who went 3-for-5 with five runs and one triple.

Palm Desert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Palm Desert pushed their record up to 7-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Xavier Prep, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Xavier Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Hamilton on the 16th. Hopefully Palm Desert paid attention to the Saints' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
