The Blair Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Calvary Chapel Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Blair will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Calvary Chapel is ranked 30th).
Blair played against California School for the Deaf-Riverside and lost via forfeit.
Last Friday, Calvary Chapel got themselves on the board against Sherman Oaks CES, but Sherman Oaks CES never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 38-0 victory over the Knights at home. The victory was just what Calvary Chapel needed coming off of a 54-30 loss in their prior game.
Josh Lennear and Will Larsen were among the main playmakers for Calvary Chapel as the former threw for 78 yards and two touchdowns and the latter gained 106 total yards and two touchdowns. Another big playmaker for Calvary Chapel was Xavier Hernandez, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Blair and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-1 Fulton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.9% over those games). As for Calvary Chapel, their victory bumped their record up to 4-4.
