The Monroe Central Golden Bears will square off against the South Adams Starfires at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Monroe Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Blackford as they made off with a 10-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Carter Duncan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Monroe Central is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-12 otherwise. Duncan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Monroe Central let Caleb Luedike and Isaac Middleton run wild. Luedike went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI, while Middleton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave Luedike a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyler Bogue, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one triple.
Monroe Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
South Adams came out on top against Whitko on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Starfires won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Starfires.
Kaleb Minger was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Zaden Baumer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Monroe Central's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for South Adams, their victory bumped their record up to 5-16.
South Adams' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monroe Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for South Adams, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain Monroe Central's hitters?
