Lamar (Meridian, Miss.) 17-13 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Daniel Taylor touchdown run in the first quarter, the Cougars were up 14-7 at the half.
Simpson Academy grew its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. SA's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal by
Andrew Berry.
The Mendenhall school went into the matchup giving up only 7.0 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 28-15 win for the Cougars.
The loss comes after Lamar defeated Columbia Academy 42-0 last week. The win brought Simpson Academy's winning streak to three games. The loss broke Lamar's three-game winning streak.
