It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Lowellville Rockets can now relate to. They suffered a tough 41-21 loss at the hands of Danville on Friday. Lowellville's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Lowellville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Michael Ballone. Despite the final result, he rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
Cole Delaughder was his usual excellent self, rushing for 238 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Delaughder was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Walker Weckesser, who rushed for 126 yards on only 12 carries.
Lowellville's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Danville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-1.
Lowellville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Danville will head out on the road to face off against Dalton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dalton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
