Baseball Recap: Sharon Beats Conneaut Area for Their Third Straight Win

Sharon waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Conneaut Area Eagles with a sharp 14-5 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-5 back in March.

Ian Fischer and Marko Zajac did most of the damage at the plate: Fischer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Zajac went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Fischer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Donovan Parker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sharon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Sharon's record now sits at 10-3. As for Conneaut Area, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4.

Sharon and Conneaut Area should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Tigers will square off against Oil City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (100 vs. 473). Meanwhile, Conneaut Area (ranked 222nd) will meet Corry (ranked 480th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
