The Mt. Pleasant Tigers can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Marshall by a score of 52-42. The win was just what Mt. Pleasant needed coming off of a 83-26 loss in their prior game.
Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Calleigh Johnson, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Johnson posted two or more blocks. Ka'leehia Williams was another key contributor, scoring two points along with nine rebounds and five blocks.
Mt. Pleasant's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for Marshall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Texas the next time they take the court. Marshall will head out to face Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Mt. Pleasant will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
