The Columbia Eagles came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 33-6 victory over Towers. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-0.
Columbia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lamaze Williams, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Jadan Baugh also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Columbia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Towers, their defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 1-9.
Columbia will take on Athens Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Athens Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Towers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
