The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes will face off against the Valders Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Hartford hit Whitefish Bay with a seven-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Dukes lost 10-1 to the Orioles. The Blue Dukes haven't had much luck with the Orioles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Valders posted their closest win since May 21, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Kiel. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Megan Hochkammer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Hochkammer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Olson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Audrey Wagner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Whitefish Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Valders, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Whitefish Bay hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Valders struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Whitefish Bay couldn't quite finish off Valders in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Blue Dukes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
