The Central Valley Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Johansen Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Central Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Central Valley's game was all tied up 32-32 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 71-58 victory over Modesto. With that win, Central Valley brought their scoring average up to 55 points per game.
Central Valley can attribute much of their success to Sahibjot Deal, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Emmanuel Carranza was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Johansen's three-game losing streak came to an end last Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 49-48 victory over Livermore.
The victory makes it two in a row for Central Valley and bumps their season record up to 2-1. As for Johansen, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 1-3.
Everything came up roses for Central Valley against Johansen when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 65-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
