The Lee Central Stallions were the 43-34 winner over the Marion Swamp Foxes when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Lee Central took a 40-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion on Friday.
Lee Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mylasia Dennis, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Serenity Williams was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six steals.
Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shamya Mckelvy led the charge by scoring 11 points. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Williams, who scored 11 points.
Lee Central's loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-4. As for Marion, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Lee Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Andrews at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee Central is facing Andrews at the right time seeing as Andrews is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Marion, they will head out on the road to take on Mullins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
