The Pellston Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. They were beaten by Inland Lakes 83-49. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pellston in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.
Leading Inland Lakes to victory were Sam Schoonmaker and Connor Wallace. Schoonmaker dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Wallace scored 25 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Schoonmaker has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Fenstermaker, who scored 15 points along with six blocks and two steals.
Pellston's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Inland Lakes, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Pellston will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellaire will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Inland Lakes, they will head out on the road to take on the Ironmen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mancelona presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Michigan (the Ironmen are ranked 210th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 425th).
