The Davis Darts will challenge the Lehi Pioneers at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Davis is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 18 games.
Davis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Copper Hills by a score of 10-5.
The team relied heavily on Riley Jaques, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Norah Sunderland was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lehi got themselves on the board against Skyridge on Friday, but Skyridge never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Mya Maughan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Camry Wassmer and Sophie Bliss did most of the damage at the plate: Wassmer went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Bliss went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brynlee Cook, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Lehi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyridge only posted a batting average of .148.
Lehi is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Davis, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-6.
Everything went Davis' way against Lehi in their previous meeting back in March of 2018, as Davis made off with an 11-5 win. Will the Darts repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
