It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Overton Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Evadale at home to the tune of 40-9. Considering Overton has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Overton was led to victory by Isaiah Hawkins and Bryce Still. Hawkins picked up 140 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Still threw for 223 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Evadale to a paltry 92 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Overton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kash Fletcer and his two sacks.
Overton pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.6 points per game. As for Evadale, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Overton will take on Mart at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Mart will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Evadale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
