Baseball Recap: Hatley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hatley came into Thursday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Mantachie Mustangs with a sharp 14-4 win on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Sloan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Sloan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Tristan Hendrix was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Evan George was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Hatley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mantachie only posted an OBP of .333.

Hatley's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Mantachie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Hatley has already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Hamilton on the 21st. As for Mantachie, they will head out to challenge Hickory Flat at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mantachie is facing Hickory Flat at the right time seeing as Hickory Flat is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
