The Hayden Lobos fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 20-9 victory over Superior on Tuesday. This was payback for Hayden, who suffered a 25-19 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Even though they lost, Superior smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 11 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Hayden's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-17. As for Superior, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hayden will take on Fort Thomas at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Thomas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hayden in Arizona (Fort Thomas is ranked 104th, while Hayden is ranked 274th). As for Superior, they will head out on the road to square off against Joseph City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Joseph City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Superior likes a good challenge.
