The Thoreau Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Estancia Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thoreau has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Thoreau took on Zuni on Wednesday. The Hawks came up short against the Thunderbirds, falling 11-3. The Hawks' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Jordan Calladitto was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.
Meanwhile, Estancia got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Pecos.
Christopher Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Hunter Corona was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Joshua Villafuerte was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Estancia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Thoreau, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thoreau has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Estancia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Thoreau suffered a grim 22-3 defeat to Estancia when the teams last played back in March. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
