After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, Word of God Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Cajun Christian Athletics Gators with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Force, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Leah Daugherty was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Brynn Jordan was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mikah Vonsenden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Word of God Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
