After both having extra time off, the Ellet Orangemen and the Lakeside Dragons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ellet will be strutting in after a win while Lakeside will be coming in after a defeat.
Ellet proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Firestone. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Orangemen have posted against the Falcons since October 12, 2023.
Ellet wouldn't go down easily and took Firestone into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 18-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Lakeside came up short against Geneva on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Dragons have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-16.
Ellet will have to contain Jaselle Krenisky as she made an impact in Lakeside's last game. She had ten assists and seven digs.
Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Ellet, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Ellet has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Lakeside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
