The Amundsen Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Elmwood Park Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Amundsen is ranked 293rd, while Elmwood Park is ranked 292nd).
Last Saturday, Amundsen had to suffer through a rough 65-27 loss at the hands of DePaul College Prep. Amundsen has struggled against DePaul College Prep recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Amundsen had strong showings from Hannah Lopez, who scored 9 points, and Giana Solomon, who scored 8 points. Lopez scored a full 33.3% of Amundsen's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Elmwood Park came up short against Wheaton Academy on Wednesday and fell 35-23.
Amundsen's victory bumped their season record to 3-3 while DePaul College Prep's loss dropped theirs to 6-1.
Amundsen beat Elmwood Park 49-41 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Elmwood Park's Alina Paul, who scored 24 points. Now that she won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Amundsen to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
