Kiel is 8-2 against Valders since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will head out to square off against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kiel 2.5, Valders 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Kiel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Sturgeon Bay 14-2 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Hunter Pitzen made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Pitzen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Edward LeMieux, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Owen Schmit, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Valders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 8-2 victory. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Austin Ebert was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Carter Valleskey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Valders hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilbert struck out nine times.
The victory made it two in a row for Kiel and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Valders, their record now sits at 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kiel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Valders struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kiel was able to grind out a solid victory over Valders in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
