The St. Monica Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the Walnut Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
St. Monica stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Desert Hot Springs as St. Monica made off with a 29-7 win.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Walnut walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 38-13 margin over the Cardinals. Walnut pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit San Bernardino had little chance of recovering from.
Demetrius Stampley and Noah Covarrubias were among the main playmakers for Walnut as the former rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries and the latter threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Stampley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 10-3.
