The Kankakee Valley Kougars fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Twin Lakes Indians on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kankakee Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Lalonde, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Lalonde posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Camden Webster, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Kankakee Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Twin Lakes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamison Ousley, who scored 26 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Avery Condo was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Kankakee Valley and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Twin Lakes, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kankakee Valley will challenge East Chicago Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Chicago Central will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Kankakee Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Twin Lakes, they will head out on the road to square off against Crawfordsville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
