Conwell-Egan Catholic hasn't had much luck against St. Joseph's Prep recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Conwell-Egan Catholic had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Father Judge on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over the Crusaders. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Keegan Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Nick Waldron was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Conwell-Egan Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Prep entered their tilt with Lansdale Catholic on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 27-0 victory. That 27-run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.
Mihretu Rupertus looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, St. Joseph's Prep got a massive performance out of Christopher Grasso, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Grasso also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexander Erespe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Conwell-Egan Catholic's record now sits at 6-1. As for St. Joseph's Prep, their record is now an identical 6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Conwell-Egan Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph's Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Conwell-Egan Catholic couldn't quite finish off St. Joseph's Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
