6A District 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Lawton extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 4 this week by beating Choctaw, 48-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Edmond Santa Fe moved up to 31 from 66 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-35 win over the Wolves helped the Wolves improve their standing.
Southmoore's dynamic duo of Tre Edwards and Jackson Stallings proved tough for Putnam City West to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Edwards threw for 139 yards and three touchdowns and Stallings had 69 yards receiving. Jaelon Walker helped Southmoore's passing attack out by catching two balls for 62 yards.
Imond Robinson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 179 yards as Norman bested the Patriots. A'enon Hines also contributed to the rushing game with 55 yards on the ground.
Zach Long provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers defeated Edmond Memorial. He completed nine passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 54 yards. Long's favorite target this week was Cal Schone, who caught three passes for 36 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Edwards and Karltrell Henderson Southmoore has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Edwards leads the league in passing with 1013 yards, while Henderson has rushed for 650 yards this season. The Yellowjackets' Cote Barber leads the league in receiving yards with 416 on 25 catches.
The top two teams in 6A District 4 will face off this week when first place Lawton takes on second place Southmoore. Last week, Lawton beat Choctaw, while Jeff Brickman's team topped Putnam City West.
The SaberCats took down Rocky Martin's team 69-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Edwards in the win.
