It was a good run, but the Hale Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 75-62 to Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (56), Hale still had to take the loss.
Grundy County/Newtown-Harris got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Corbin Axtell out in front who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. The game was Axtell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zack Cross, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds.
Hale's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.
Hale will be playing in front of their home fans against Keytesville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keytesville is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Braymer at 6:30 p.m. on December 16th.
