The Shalom Christian Academy Flames pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mountain Ridge 71-65. Shalom Christian Academy lost against Mountain Ridge in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 60-57 score last time.
Mountain Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen McGeady led the charge by scoring 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Duncan, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Shalom Christian Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Mountain Ridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Shalom Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Maryland School for the Deaf at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maryland School for the Deaf will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Mountain Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southern at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Hopefully Southern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
