The West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors won against the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators last Thursday with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. West Florida Baptist Academy walked away with a 53-46 win over Gulf Pointe Latin. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Florida Baptist Academy.
West Florida Baptist Academy was led to victory by Makenna Enfinger and Olivia Pearce. Enfinger scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Pearce dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Pearce has scored at least 25% of West Florida Baptist Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Johnson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Gulf Pointe Latin saw an underclassman step up: Coral Hamer dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hamer scored 15 or more points. Ava Matthews was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Gulf Pointe Latin were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West Florida Baptist Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they have fallen quite a ways from their 12-6 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Florida Baptist Academy will take on Baker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they will be playing at home against South Baldwin Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
