Pen Argyl and Notre Dame-Green Pond are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Green Knights will challenge the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pen Argyl's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Notre Dame-Green Pond's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Pen Argyl got the win against Wilson Area by a conclusive 16-1. The Green Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Jillian Bradley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Wentz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Oessenick also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Green Pond didn't have quite enough to beat Palisades on Wednesday and fell 7-6. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost six in a row.
Kelsey Bedics made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Pen Argyl and bumps their season record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Notre Dame-Green Pond's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Pen Argyl has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Notre Dame-Green Pond, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Pen Argyl keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
Pen Argyl beat Notre Dame-Green Pond 5-0 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
