The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 70-46 victory. Given Sunrise Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Liberty is ranked 151st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sunrise Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savanna Dotray, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Addison Wiemann, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Makenna Johnson scored 16 points. Kallee Hilt was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Sunrise Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will face off against Apollo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to take on O'Connor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully O'Connor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Wednesday.
