The Jackson Aggies had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Monday. They came out on top against T.R. Miller by a score of 52-44. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Tigers are ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Jackson to victory were Micah Caster and Keeyun Chapman. Caster scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Chapman dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Caster continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joseph Taylor, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Heath Kirkland, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayki Askew, who scored 11 points.
T.R. Miller struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jackson pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Jackson's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. As for T.R. Miller, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
Jackson will be playing at home against the Leopards at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blount is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for T.R. Miller, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
