Taylor Laird and Scotty Walton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Rio Linda. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in Capital Valley this season.
Del Campo extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bella Vista, 49-10. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Oakmont's dynamic duo of Laird and Walton proved tough for the Knights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Laird threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns and Walton had 122 yards receiving. Michael Schmitt helped Oakmont's passing attack out by catching five balls for 79 yards.
Marcel Brown was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 18 carries as Rio Linda lost to Rio Linda. Dustin Rossiter also contributed to the rushing game with 122 yards on the ground.
6-foot-3 quarterback Laird of Oakmont is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1655. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, Michael Morris' team's Brown has rushed for 1261 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jalen Walker. The Christian Brothers star has 43 catches for 758 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Rio Linda takes on second place Del Campo. Last week, the Knights beat Tim Moore's team, while Del Campo topped the Broncos.
Mike Dimino's team's Josh Blumgold needs only 78 yards against Rio Linda next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 116 carries Blumgold has accumulated 922 yard this year.
