5A Region II District 15 recap October 22, 2013
Anderson moved up to 731 from 824 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 15. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Lake Travis 62-0.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Cavaliers beat Anderson 62-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for Lake Travis.
Tyler Payne was the best wideout in the league this week as Hank Carter's team topped Darin Shaw's team. Payne tallied 5 receptions for 127 yards. Grant Foster helped Lake Travis' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 37 yards.
The Cavaliers' Dominic De Lira and Payne led 5A Region II District 15 in both passing and receiving yards. De Lira has thrown for 1,298 yards this season, while Payne has 27 catches for 468 yards. Teddy Lowery from Akins leads the league in rushing with 937 yards.
Lowery of the the Eagles is just 63 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 137 carries Lowery has put up 937 yards this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Akins takes on the Bulldogs. As it stands, Humberto Garza's team is in fourth, while Bowie is in second.
Lake Travis took down the Trojans 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. De Lira threw for 193 yards and 1 touchdown in the win.
