Basketball Recap: Falkner Falls Despite Big Games from Elijah Mauney and Chris Nunley

Falkner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 48-39 to the Byers Lions. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Chris Nunley and Elijah Mauney certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Nunley posted 20 points and three steals, while Mauney went 6 for 13 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. Nunley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Wooley, who scored three points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Falkner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Falkner's defeat dropped their record down to 9-10. As for Byers, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11.

Falkner will welcome Thrasher at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Falkner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season. As for Byers, they are taking a road trip to square off against Horn Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Horn Lake will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Byers surely won't give up without a fight.
