The contest between South Amboy and Dunellen wasn't particularly close, with South Amboy falling 35-19. While losing is never fun, South Amboy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Dunellen is ranked 145th).
Dunellen found their leader in underclassman Brielle Villanueva-Jadotte, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and two steals. Villanueva-Jadotte continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Wendy Woll was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
South Amboy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for Dunellen, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
South Amboy will head out on the road to take on Keyport at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dunellen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Timothy Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
