Richmond City School of the Arts is 0-10 against Monacan since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Last Thursday, Richmond City School of the Arts had to suffer through a rough 100-13 loss at the hands of Manchester. While losing is never fun, Richmond City School of the Arts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Manchester is ranked second).
Despite the defeat, Richmond City School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: Laylianah McBrayer scored 11 points. That was a full 84.6% of Richmond City School of the Arts' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, even though Midlothian scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Monacan still came out on top. Monacan secured a 64-60 W over Midlothian. The victory was just what Monacan needed coming off of a 68-37 defeat in their prior match.
Richmond City School of the Arts dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.9 points per game. As for Monacan, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Richmond City School of the Arts was dealt a bruising 63-24 loss at the hands of Monacan when the teams last played back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Richmond City School of the Arts was down 33-7.
