On Friday, the Burke Cougars didn't have too much trouble with the Scotland/Menno Trappers at home as they won 38-22. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Gentry Bartling was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Kaleb Schonebaum was another key player, rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Scotland/Menno lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Izayah Ulmer, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 98 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Trent Guthmiller, who rushed for 125 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Burke now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Scotland/Menno, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Burke will square off against Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Burke surely won't give up without a fight. As for Scotland/Menno, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Colome at 7:00 p.m. on October 4th.
