Softball Recap: Chester Wins Going Away Against Plumas Charter

After only one run in their last contest, Chester made sure to put some runs up on the board against Plumas Charter on Wednesday. The Volcanoes blew past the Warriors 21-3. The Volcanoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by eight runs or more this season.

Jenna Schlueter made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two RBI, and one double. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sarah Branch was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nancy Christianson, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI and one run.

Chester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Chester is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Plumas Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chester will host Princeton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plumas Charter, they will welcome Burney at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
